The idea to kick off a German networking counterpart to CONCUR was born at the social event of CONCUR 2007 in Lisbon.  The founders of the idea were Barbara König, Michael Mendler, Markus Müller-Olm and Uwe Nestmann.  The core of the idea is to organize annual informal two-day meetings (by now, traditionally, in March) that essentially serve the purpose to stimulate exchange and discussions, especially among PhD students in the field, and to foster collaborations.  Meetings have been held in:



The idea to find more organziational support and visibility under the auspicies of the Gesellschaft für Informatik was put forward at D-CON in 2012, leading to the birth of the GI-Fachgruppe Concurrency Theory in 2013.
